The
Palmyra Racing Association, Inc.
Membership Application Instructions
Thank
you for inquiring about the Palmyra Racing Association.
As
a not-for-profit organization we sponsor 5-7 races each year with all
proceeds going into improvements on the grounds and donations to
charitable organizations. We count on each member for help and
participation throughout the year to support the PRA and maintain the
grounds, including all buildings and structures on the property.
Memberships:
There
are many different types of membership in the PRA but new members are only
eligible for Associate Membership. Associate Membership is available for
those who simply want to ride with no working obligations to the PRA.
Associate Members pay $435 per year and have full access to the riding
area but they have no voting rights.
A PRA membership is really a family membership, allowing the
immediate family of a club member, as long as they are covered under the
same health plan, to take advantage of all the Hogback Hill facilities
have to offer. Proof of
health care is a mandatory requirement of membership.
After
the first year of entry-level Associate Membership, members in good
standing may qualify for Probationary Membership.
Probationary membership is for riders that don’t mind working and
helping the club out by attending meetings and working on work days and
races. Probationary Members pay $175 for their year of membership and have
full access to the riding area and are allowed to vote. The Probationary
Membership is limited to space available and will be offered to those
Associate Members that have demonstrated a willingness to pitch in and
help with the work associated with running the club. A “points” system is used to monitor and record the
amount of work contributed by a member and records are maintained by the
club Secretary. To be eligible for Probationary Membership, you must have
participated in the club's working events and earned 50% of the available
points for a year. At the end of each year the Board of Directors reviews
the participation of each Working Member. Probationary Memberships will be
offered first to those Associate and existing Probationary members that
have earned the most points in the previous calendar year.
Probationary
membership status is the first step to becoming a Senior (Working) Member.
Just like the Probationary Members, Senior Members have to earn 50%
of the total points possible in the year, and the number of Senior
Memberships offered each year is limited to openings available. Senior
Members pay $65 for their year of membership, have full access to the
riding area, are allowed to vote and pay no gate fee on race days if they
work on the race weekend. Failure to keep points at a satisfactory
level of 50% or more of all possible points in the year could result in
reduction of membership level from Senior Membership status to Associate
Membership level for the following year. If there are any questions
on this, further explanation is documented in the club bylaws, or you may
email someone on the board or ask at a club meeting for a further
explanation.
